UFC 106: Ortiz Vs. Griffin

Griffin had something to prove, and his Split Decision win over Tito, especially in the dominating third round, may have made a statement. That was the follow up to a rather "eyesore" of a victory for Koscheck. The undercard wasn't shabby either, though Ben Saunders' knees could probably rattle someone's soul right out of their body. Dent and Cane made my picks rather sad, but Little Nog got a well deserved win. UFC 106 was better than 105 for me, but WEC 44: Aldo Vs. Brown owned both UFC cards handily.

UFC 105 Couture Vs. Vera

After the Decision was given to Randy at UFC 105, I found it interesting that people were upset and have said that the last two UFC cards have had bad decisions. One of the rules is Octagon Control. In Machida vs. Shogun, Machida did not have Octagon Control yet Couture blatantly controlled Vera. Couture used his wrestling and kept Vera against the cage for a majority of the fight, but Vera did not have a single answer for that maneuver. Anyone who has seen Couture fight knows that his keys to success are clenching against the cage, using his wrestling to take people down and dirty boxing. To be outraged at a fighter for executing the same game plan he has always used is ridiculous. The outrage should go to the judges and Vera for not looking as if he at all trained for Couture’s well known skill set.
